One of the UK’s fastest growing tech firms has acquired Startups.co.uk

London-headquartered marketing company, MVF, has announced the acquisition of business website Startups.co.uk in a seven-figure deal.

The company, which is touted as one of the UK’s fastest growing tech firms, has paid £1m to acquire the business advice website which has been running since 2000.

As part of the deal, Startups founder David Lester will step aside to focus on his citrusHR venture, while the site’s editorial team will move into MVF’s Kentish Town headquarters.

Following the acquisition, MVF Chief Executive, Titus Sharpe, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the Startups team to the business.

“There is a real sense of excitement between Startups and MVF - they are a really dynamic team who have the same drive and ambition as MVF, and one of the MVF founders was a ‘Young Gun’ back in 2011.

“We hope that we can build on their success and that with our marketing expertise we can grow their already substantial reach.”

Since its foundation 17 years ago, Startups has grown into one of the UK’s biggest business advice websites, with around 4.8m readers and Startups.co.uk’s Editorial Director Ian Wallis believes the acquisition will help take the brand to even further success

He said: “The acquisition is a major endorsement of everything the Startups team has worked so tirelessly to achieve.

“We’re thrilled to have joined such an ambitious and well-run company and determined to build on our mission of providing unrivalled content and services for nascent entrepreneurs and established businesses alike.”
