Italian club Brescia denies takeover talks with Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino
Italian football club Brescia has confirmed that no talks about a potential takeover have been held with Leeds co-owner Massimo Cellino.
In recent months, Cellino has been linked to a return to Italian football with the second tier side.
A spokesperson for Brescia has now come forward and stated that the club hasn’t been in contact with Massimo Cellino nor had offers from any party regarding a takeover.
The club statement read: “In relation to the insistent news about the impending sale of the club, Giuseppe Pirola, the professional responsible to receive and evaluate any expressions of interest, declares that the club has not been sold and is not in any negotiations at the moment, in particular, there is no contact, direct or indirect, with Cellino.”
There has been rumours circulating that Cellino was looking to acquire a majority stake in Brescia despite still having 50% shares in Leeds United.
On January 4th 2017, it was confirmed that Cellino sold a 50% stake in Leeds to fellow Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani.
It is believed that Radrizzani, who is the co-founder of media rights group MP & Silva, will take full control over the Championship club next summer.
