Bradford school celebrates ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating
Dixons Kings Academy in Bradford is celebrating being awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted earlier this week, with the highest-level rating given to the school for delivering an excellent level of education to students.
Among Ofcom’s findings, Her Majesty’s Inspectors noted the positive impact that Mosaic, a mentoring initiative led by The Prince’s Trust, has had on the schools’ students.
Pupils from Dixons Kings were finalists in Mosaic’s Enterprise Challenge Grand Final last year, a national competition designed to increase young people’s understanding of business concepts and how they can apply them. Inspectors also noted that Mosaic’s Secondary School mentoring programme had helped give the pupils involved several vital skills.
Neil Miley, Principal of Dixons Kings Academy, said: “We’re happy that Mosaic’s work has contributed to our Outstanding rating by Ofsted. It’s clear that our students have gained a huge amount by participating in Mosaic’s programmes. Mosaic’s belief that all young people have the potential to do great things in life regardless of their background is one that we enthusiastically share and endorse at our school.”
Leah Larkin, Mosaic’s Regional Manager in Yorkshire, added: “The staff at Dixons Kings Academy have always been hugely supportive of our work and I’m very pleased to see that the school has been rated so highly by Ofsted. I’m also very encouraged that the impact of Mosaic’s work has been cited by the HMI Inspectors in their report; it’s yet more evidence that what we are doing in schools across the region is having a truly positive impact.”
