Commercial director Wayne Wild called the move 'a step in the right direction' for WEC

Lancashire engineering firm WEC Group expands into Scotland

Lancashire engineering and fabrication company WEC Group Ltd has expanded into Scotland.

The Darwen-headquartered company opened a new office in Motherwell, south east of Glasgow, to support its growing operations north of the border.

Located at the Lanarkshire Eurocentral Business Centre, the site is the second launched by WEC outside the North in the last 12 months.

Last year, WEC expanded into the West Midlands after acquiring Coventry-based HTA Group and opening a Stafford sales office.

Now the firm is looking to expand its Glasgow team, in addition to taking on new field-based sales reps in Dublin and Belfast as a way of growing its laser-cutting services.

Commercial director Wayne Wild said: “This is a step in the right direction for WEC Group as it improves our locality and relationships with suppliers and customers.

“The new Glasgow and Stafford offices are just the starting point of our expansion across the UK, and they already have great potential for growing the group’s manufacturing divisions even further.”

Earlier this year, WEC Group Ltd revealed plans to recruit dozens of new staff after securing a £6m contract to deliver an Airbus assembly plant in Germany.
