Working part time as a nurse

Working part time as a nurse isn’t certainly very easy as the shifts are tough and that the tough shifts drain the energy levels out of most nurses. Working part time as a nurse and then studying nursing can put a delay in your work, especially academic work as it may take you 5-6 years to finish graduation. The reason behind all this is the tough nature of the shifts where the duties involved in handling patients can be very strenuous and that the nurses themselves often have to rest at the hospital.

Graduate nurses find it easy and challenging. That is, they can either rest at the hospital or at home after duty hours and can proceed as usual with normal routine. However, Nursing students have to return back home to complete their studies and get some rest by sacrificing the leisure life has to offer. Nursing shifts are tough and that nursing itself has an array of fields. Most nurses today are no longer just basic caregivers, they are licensed practitioners and it is necessary that they obtain healthcare, practitioner and nursing licenses as well. Since most nursing disciplines require at least a Bachelor’s degree in nursing sciences, most part time nurses are nursing students and that they are usually serving as assistants to qualified and practicing nurses. No patient is easy to handle and that the modern day nurse is required to be extra vigilant on patients. The healthcare industry in the United Kingdom has become a lot more dynamic and that nurses at times also have to cater to social cases where they are required to keep watch over the patients and look for clues that no one else has been able to spot.

Moreover, a considerable number of students studying nursing in the United Kingdom are from foreign countries and upon graduation they take traineeship as trainee nurses as well as being understudies to senior nursing professionals and doctors. The main issue most foreign students face is with the British variant of English and its academic usage, as well as the stringent academic requirement of subject matter, coursework, essays, assignments, reports and dissertations that require both impeccable subject matter and good spellings, structure and grammar. Also, when grammar errors and other related errors become repetitive, then nursing students fear for their grades and are in further fear of losing out on key grades which they do not want to happen at any cost. Furthermore, with nursing shifts coming at any time of the day, attending classes after shifts is not easy and that students are often tired when they attend classes after a tough nursing shift.

The need for nurses to be available round the clock is very necessary and when a nursing student advances further up the academic ladder then it becomes necessary for the student to be involved in nursing duties. Fields such as Nurse Practitioner, Geriatric nursing, paediatric nursing, psychiatric nursing or nursing anaesthetist, each field requires constant attendance and constant surveillance as well. There is no such shift where a nurse can relax and many nurses have to be around to keep a check on patients in order to see if no sudden symptom or an illness does not appear during odd timings.

Patients’ medications are another thing which also requires constant check. Nurses have to aid doctors to check whether patients are taking their medications or not, and whether the medicines given are of the right potency or not. There are incidences where patients recover early than anticipated and that the need for medications is automatically thus ended. Also, whether alternative medicines should be given or not and at what intervals is also a critical factor as medical representatives would just push doctors to buy their medicines instead of what is truly needed. Apart from that, if there are any complications due to the medication’s potency then that has to be reported. Part time nurses also have to perform these tasks and since they end up tired when studying then they need to obtain the help of an Essay Writing Service to help their studies.
