Imperial College London pairs with Central Working for White City shared workspace
A new partnership between Imperial College London and Central Working is set to deliver a shared workspace hub that will bring together over 400 businesses at the university’s new White City campus.
Central Working White City will be the workspace provider’s first shared workspace linked to a university and will help to link businesses based at the hub with Imperial’s network of researchers, academics and corporate partners.
The pair have already secured a new big-name tenant for the facility in OGCI Climate Investments, a low emissions energy fund which is looking to invest up to $1bn in technologies developing emission reduction approaches, which will move into the building when it opens this May.
Dominic Emery, Interim Chief Executive Officer of OGCI Climate Investments, said that the new facility will help it connect with Imperial’s far-reaching startup and research network.
He commented: “The OGCI is committed to uncovering and developing technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the next ten years, and collaboration will prove vital in tackling the climate challenge.
“Imperial College London provides access to the university’s world-leading energy and engineering research, while basing Climate Investments from Central Working presents the invaluable opportunity to tap into the UK’s innovative growing business community.”
Located on the northern side of Imperial’s new campus alongside a new incubator for lab-based startups, the 23-acre White City development is centered around collaborative spaces and cross-pollination between research, businesses and corporations in areas including science, engineering and medicine.
Dr Eulian Roberts, Chief Executive of Imperial College ThinkSpace, said: “Throughout its history, Imperial has partnered with industry to find solutions to some of the greatest challenges we face.
“To meet the challenges of the future, we need the world’s best minds and businesses to work even more closely together. At the White City Campus, researchers, corporations and start-ups will collaborate side-by-side in a creative and interactive environment.
“Energy is a global issue that cuts across disciplines and we’re very pleased to welcome OGCI to the campus as part of Central Working’s fantastic shared workspace.”
