Five Guys to take former Bison and Bird site in Clapham
US burger brand, Five Guys, is continuing the rampant expansion of its UK portfolio after agreeing to take a new site in Clapham.
The chain will open its latest restaurant at 182-184 Clapham High Street this summer after taking the former Bison and Bird site, catering for 120 covers over two floors.
Totalling 3,500 sq ft, the property includes a double frontage and large open-plan ground floor and now means Five Guys, which only opened its first restaurant in the UK back in 2013, has opened or is due to open over 60 sites across the country.
London and the South East alone now boasts over 20 restaurants from the brand and a survey by Market Force Information last year found that the burger chain has proven a roaring success with diners after it was named the UK’s top choice for fast food.
Property agents, Shelley Sandzer secured the site for Five Guys and Partner at the firm, Casey Phillips, believes Clapham High Street will make an ideal home for the popular burger joint.
He said: “Clapham High Street experiences excellent footfall throughout the day, as well as busy lunchtimes and exceptionally strong evening trade as it sits within a highly populated residential area.
“This, coupled with the popularity of the adjacent Common and Clapham’s youthful catchment makes it the perfect location for Five Guys.”
Meanwhile, Neville Maling, who is Head of Property at Five Guys, described the new property as a ‘prime site’ for the brand and added: “We are thrilled to expand the brand’s presence in such a vibrant and dynamic part of South London.”
