Lady of the North getting ‘eggcited’ about Easter

The Lady of the North and Northumberland Wildlife Trust will be celebrating a new woodland trail this Easter with treasure hunts across the four days. But don’t just take the wildlife charity’s word for it!

Drop into the Northumberlandia Visitor Centre in Cramlington on Friday 14th, Saturday 15th, Sunday 16th or Monday 17th April between 10:00am - 2:00pm and collect the first clue which takes people around the trail, collect answers to questions along the way and claim a prize at the end. There is a cost of £3.00 per child… but is well worth it.

The new trail has been made possible thanks to a fantastic cash boost of £12,000 from the Tesco Bags of Help Initiative which enabled teams of volunteers to develop the woodland trail, with help from children from three Cramlington schools: Beaconhill, East Lea and Shanklea primaries, who all pitched in and planted 1,000 bluebells, 500 daffodils and 500 wood anemone bulbs.

As well as improving the habitats for wildlife, these developments will allow the wildlife charity to provide a more interactive experience for visitors via interchangeable interpretation boards and the planting of native trees is now taking place.

To further add to the experience, ten Zinc etched rubbing disks have been placed throughout the woodland depicting some of the animals that call Northumberlandia home, forming our nature rubbing trail.
