Ratty’s on the road
If you are out on the region’s roads this year, keep your eyes peeled for the brand spanking new five-seater vehicle which is being used by ‘Restoring Ratty’ project officers Kelly Hollings and Graham Holyoak. ’
Based at Kielder Castle, ‘Restoring Ratty,’ an ambitious five year partnership project with the Tyne Rivers Trust, Forestry Commission and Northumberland Wildlife Trust, is aimed at the reintroduction of water voles to the Kielder area of Northumberland. So if you see them, give them a toot and a wave.
Amongst other things, the vehicle will be used for field work, undertaking surveys and transporting volunteers.
The whole project, including the vehicle has all been made possible by National Lottery players and a grant of £421,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
