Delifonseca finalist in Farm Shop & Deli Awards
Delifonseca Dockside has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Farm Shop & Deli Awards for the third consecutive year.
The multi-award winning Brunswick Quay eatery and deli has beat off stiff competition from across the nation to secure a finalist position in the ‘Food Hall of the Year’ category.
Following evaluation, deliberation, secret visits and mystery shops by a panel of top industry experts, Delifonseca Dockside will join a number specialists from the independent retail market at the Farm Shop & Deli Show at the NEC, Birmingham on Monday, April 24.
Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said: “Having been shortlisted in the Farm Shop & Deli Awards for the third year running, it offers a mixed sense of pride and excitement amongst the team. We are thrilled to have been selected from such a high volume and calibre of entrants to secure a place in the final.
“To be regarded on a national scale as a result of the panel’s in-depth analysis, which studied our operation, staff’s product knowledge and our commitment to stocking locally sourced products, not only helps to further the recognition of our provision, but it also puts the city of Liverpool on the good food map.
“The news of our shortlist now means that we are we currently up for not just one but two awards, as we were also recently nominated in the ’Taste’ category in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards. With that in mind, 2017 is looking to be a very exciting year indeed.“
The Farm Shop & Deli Awards, now in their fourth year, recognise the very best standards in the UK’s independent speciality retail market by celebrating the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement offered by ‘heroes of the high street’. This year’s panel includes Chair of Judges Nigel Barden, Co-Chair of Judges Elaine Lemm together with Holly Shackleton, Editor of Speciality Food and Jamie Hall from Neal’s Yard Dairy to name a few.
Chair of Judges Nigel Barden said: “It’s a joyous journey visiting the awards finalists around the UK and, with the standards being so high, it’s the attention to detail that really makes the winners stand out. It’s also apparent when staff have been well trained and crucially enjoy their work. Inspired, informed and enthusiastic folk behind the counter make a shopping experience so much better.
“It’ll be a privilege to hand over the accolades at the Farm Shop & Deli Show on April 24 and to witness the look on the winners’ faces that clearly illustrates how all their teams’ hard work has paid off.“
