‘Urban Birder’ is flying back to the region
Organisers of the 2017 North East Wildlife Photography Competition are delighted to announce the welcome return of David Lindo, aka ‘The Urban Birder’, as the guest speaker at the competition’s awards ceremony on Thursday 6 July 2017, at Great North Museum: Hancock.
Forget the return of Sir Tom Jones to The Voice on ITV, this announcement will be guaranteed to excite wildlife lovers of all ages!
David is no stranger to the photography competition, having supported it previously. A broadcaster, writer and tour leader, David’s main mission in life is to engage city people around the world with the plentiful urban nature that surrounds them. He is a regular television and radio presenter and has been featured on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 in the UK as well as other TV channels around the world including CBS in the United States.
Now in its fifth year running, the three north east Wildlife Trusts (Northumberland, Durham and Tees Valley), the Natural History Society of Northumbria (NHSN), Great North Museum: Hancock and Alan Hewitt Photography joined forces in 2012 to launch the first North East Wildlife Photography Competition.
Nestlé Fawdon, which has supported the competition since its launch is the main sponsor, and, as with previous years an array of wonderful prizes are on offer including a wonderful £250 voucher from London Camera Exchange (which has an outlet in Newcastle), binoculars, photography workshops, wildlife watching trips, birdwatching workshops and photography equipment.
As well as a chance to win a fantastic prize the entries also help to showcase the wonderful wildlife that can be found in the North East.
There’s still time to enter the competition. It is free to enter and is open to everybody. Visit www.northeastwildlifephoto.co.uk The competition can be followed via Facebook and twitter.
