This new programme is hoping to ‘bridge the gap’ between startups and the corporate world

The ten participants in a new initiative aimed at fostering more cross-pollination between later stage startups and enterprise have been selected, including a firm developing an IoT analytics dashboard and a firm applying blockchain technology across industry.

Momentum London is a three month programme that supports later stage B2B and B2B2C firms in traversing the rocky terrain from individual ad-hoc clients to larger corporate clients.

Programme Director, Ricardo Simard, said the primary objective of the programme is to bridge the gap between startups and corporate clients, which he believes can only help to improve the UK’s business ecosystem.

He said: “After talking with hundreds of startups and large enterprise leaders, we’ve realised it’s difficult for startups to validate different market opportunities and decide where to focus.

“At Momentum we bring startups and large enterprises together with the aim to bridge this gap to ensure a stronger business ecosystem is in place.”

Drawing its ambassador network from big-name firms such as Dominos Pizza, Argos and Diageo, the 12-week initiative will see the selected startups working with those across different industry verticals to develop their products and identify hurdles that may prevent them from sealing bigger, corporate clients.

Those making up the Momentum London Spring cohort are:

  • Level39 member Applied Blockchain, which is working on the adoption of blockchain technology for startup and corporate clients
  • London-based Avvoka, a firm which is developing a cloud-based contract system
  • Business performance platform Avora
  • Device Pilot, which is a startup developing an analytics and diagnostics platform for Internet of Things (IoT) devices
  • London’s Digitteria which is working on a solution for personal information management
  • E-commerce firm Divido which provides merchants with the option of instant payment by instalments
  • Security and encryption platform NuCypher
  • AI and machine learning business Sentisum
  • Regulation and compliance firm Waymark Tech, which is utilising natural language processing to turn complex actions into prescriptive actions
  • Hiring app We Love Work which utilises metrics to gauge cultural fit for prospective employees.

The Spring cohort began working with Momentum London last week and will now develop their ideas and products in preparation for a demo day in June.
