New Manchester base for travel firm Thomas Cook
Travel company Thomas Cook is establishing a new base in Manchester.
The firm has signed a five-year deal with developer The Derwent Group for 6,300 sq ft, a whole floor, at Cardinal House in the city centre.
Cardinal House, which comprises 55,362 sq ft in total, was Derwent’s first acquisition in central Manchester when it purchased the property in 2016.
Derwent Estates property director Jonathan Black said: “Cardinal House presented a rare opportunity to acquire a fantastic office investment within Manchester city centre with a good mix of long-standing tenants and potential for enhancing the asset value.
“The Derwent Group is pleased to welcome Thomas Cook to Cardinal House who make a great addition to the building.”
Commercial property consultancy Matthews & Goodman represented Thomas Cook, while Derwent Estates advised The Derwent Group.
Matthews & Goodman partner David Laws commented: “Cardinal House provided a quick and cost effective solution to the needs of Thomas Cook in their relocation from south Manchester into the city centre.
“The space offered great flexibility for their operational requirements and the locational advantages of the building are excellent.”
OBI and WHR are joint agents for Cardinal House.
