Mulbury to start on £42m of North West projects

Cheshire-based developer Mulbury is to start work on six new housing schemes in the North West worth around £42million.

The projects will see new homes built in Caton, Weaste, and Lymm under its Mulbury Living brand which specialises in homes for open market sale.

Meanwhile, Mulbury’s affordable housing arm is set to start on 66 new homes in Walton, 64 homes in Levenshulme and 46 in Gorton.

Mulbury also has over 900 homes at various stages of the planning process, which includes a mix of affordable housing, care schemes and open market residential.

Greg Mulligan, a director at Mulbury, said: “This has been our busiest ever quarter for new site starts. These six latest schemes are all direct build projects where Mulbury is the main contractor.

“We have a strong project pipeline. We will be creating a number of new positions in construction management and in-house technical and commercial roles in the coming weeks to meet demand.”

The latest sites to get underway are:

  • Walton, Liverpool: 66 new homes on the former hospital site on behalf of housing provider One Vision.
  • Levenshulme, Manchester: 64 new homes on the former Atlas Engineering Works on behalf of housing provider One Manchester.
  • Gorton, Manchester: 46 new homes on a brownfield site for Southway Housing Trust.
  • Caton, Lancaster: 30 new homes for private sale by Mulbury Living in conjunction with Redwing Living.
  • Weaste, Salford: 24 new homes on a brownfield site for private sale by Mulbury Living
  • Lymm, Cheshire: Redevelopment of the former Farmers Arms public house in Lymm with 10 new family homes for private sale by Mulbury Living.

Mulbury specialises in transforming small and medium-sized plots and rescuing stalled sites for the affordable homes, care and open market residential sectors.

Meanwhile, its Mulbury City division specialises in investor-backed, mixed-used city centre PRS (private rented sector) developments.

It is currently developing major schemes at Port Street in the Northern Quarter and Blossom Street in Ancoats, with further projects in the planning stages.
