Photographer to Launch Commercial Arm of Business
A photographer who is most well known for her wedding portfolio is branching out to the commercial sector.
Cathy Higgins, of Nottingham-based Oehlers Photography, is launching the commercial strand to her business in a bid to encourage businesses to improve the quality of the pictures on their websites.
Cathy says it is vital that businesses have good photographs on their websites instead of ones that have been taken on a smartphone, which are often poor quality and do not reflect the business well.
Cathy, who has been a photographer for ten years after quitting her job as a PE teacher, said: “With businesses I do a whole shoot that aims to get a feel for the business and show people what the business is all about.
“I have been doing commercial shoots since 2013 but have only recently launched it as a service. I want to help businesses improve their websites with the use of professional shots rather than smartphone photos.
The quality of photos taken on a phone is awful; it’s too grainy and obvious that it’s been taken on a phone. You can’t do anything with it apart from point and shoot. With a professional camera you can do all sorts such as blur the background out.
“I think people think ‘I’ll just do the photo myself and it will be alright, but companies spend so much money trying to get the brand right, if it has rubbish photos on the website then it just ruins it.”
Cathy has recently taken photographs of property interiors for Swan Homes, and has photographed kitchens for Insight Interiors in Draycott.
She is soon to launch her new website which will reflect the new commercial service which will be available for a range of businesses - from estate agents and law firms to companies in the hotel and leisure industry.
