The Duke of York officially opens refurbished Humber Enterprise Park

HRH The Duke of York has officially opened the refurbished Humber Enterprise Park in Brough.

The 86-acre Humber Enterprise Park has seen Citivale, the site’s developer, and partner, LRE Capital, invest over £6m to transform part of the old BAE site into a brad new business park.

The Duke was presented with the history of the site and talked to tenants from the Enterprise Park before officially opening park.

The site was designated an Enterprise Zone in 2015 and boasts 1.3 million sq ft of industrial and office space, equipped with high speed fibre internet connectivity and transport links.

James Appleton-Metcalfe, managing director of Citivale, said: “We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness to Humber Enterprise Park. This is an exciting new chapter for the site, which is steeped in local history.

“In refurbishing the site, we have sought to emulate the original vision of its founder, Robert Blackburn, to create a facility that can accommodate entrepreneurial, embryonic and international corporate businesses side by side; this will be a community where business can thrive.

“The reconfiguration and demolition of redundant outbuildings, office buildings, industrial buildings and even a building to simulate bird strikes on cock pit canopies, has finally completed.

“Over the last couple of years we have accommodated start-up businesses such as Rex Rob Engineering, Turpin Bookkeeping, we’ve worked closely with highly specialized entrepreneurial businesses that were borne out of BAE such as Cablescan and Supercraft.

“And clearly we continue to work very closely alongside global corporate giants such BAE who still occupy over 40% of the space on HEP.

He added: “It’s been a busy few years and by no means is the job complete. We still have further ideas to add to the amenities on site for all employees in addition to the gym and break out areas in the landscaped area to the rear.

“We believe the added financial incentives such as rates exemption being part of the Enterprise zone status, the lowest rents on refurbished office space and industrial space in East Yorkshire, high speed internet connectivity, excellent transport links with Brough station providing direct trains to London and its great location on the A63 dual carriageway are an unbeatable combination.”
