St Gemma’s Fundraising Gets Village Talking

West Yorkshire based estate agents, Ribston Pippin set tongues wagging in Menston, Guiseley and Burley-in-Wharfedale last week after erecting 30 new boards around the region overnight. As neighbours wondered if everyone was selling up and moving on, Ribston revealed that it was actually all part of a charity initiative for St Gemma’s.

Ribston Pippin has signed up to be a fundraising partner for the local hospice and are now starting to donating £10 to St Gemma’s Hospice for each new board they post. Their stunt boards, which saw customers, contacts and friends allow them to erect boards in their properties has already raised £300 for the charity.

The family run estate agents wishes to support and showcase the hospice, and the brilliant work done by its staff, responsible for looking after hundreds of local patients, including co-owner Lisa Greer’s grandmother in her final days.

The Yorkshire based charity is Leeds’ largest hospice, and relies on three quarters of its funding by donation.

Lisa said: “I can’t thank St Gemma’s Hospice enough, for everything they did for me and my family. We want to say a huge thank you and let them know that their amazing work doesn’t go unnoticed. The initiative has been really well received and we’re excited to see how much we can raise for them this year. As we help people find their perfect homes, they can now also feel proud that they are helping those in need feel at home at St Gemma’s”.

The initiative has already been really well received by the local community with Menston resident Ian Cunningham ringing to ask if he could have a board, because “it’s a fantastic idea, a really good community initiative” and local homeowner Pippa Richardson also speaking out in support saying: “It sounds like a great idea - maybe it could encourage other local businesses to follow your lead too! We’re happy to have a board to support this, well done”.
