Fleetwood students are set to ‘Be Inspired’

Pupils at a secondary school in Fleetwood have started their career journey thanks to an inspirational programme funded by the Regenda Group.

A new six month project, which was developed by Positive Footprints and funded by the Regenda Group, was launched at Fleetwood High School on Thursday morning.

Designed for students in years 7-11, the ‘Be Inspired’ programme aims to raise the life chances of young people through developing employability skills and providing information on apprenticeship pathways. There will also be a number of business events, which will open up the world of work and give students the chance to engage with prospective employers.

Mr Richard Barnes, Head teacher at Fleetwood High School, said: “We are very excited to be launching the programme and promoting apprenticeships as a meaningful career path for our students.”

The programme will run until early July, and concludes with a celebration event for students, parents, staff and partner businesses.

Positive Footprints has also developed a primary school programme which is being delivered by six schools in Fleetwood and funded by the Regenda Group.

Lesley Burrows, Managing Director at Positive Footprints Network LTD, said: “’The Government is well on its way to achieving its vision of 3m apprentices by 2020 and this programme enables students to discover the great opportunities that apprenticeships provide, while also giving them direct contact with local employers.

“Regenda is taking action to inspire young people and its partnership with education is hugely significant.”

The partnership with Positive Footprints is part of the Regenda Group’s 10 year vision to regenerate Fleetwood. Funding has been gifted through profits made at McDonalds Property Rentals, a subsidiary lettings agency of the Regenda Group. For more information visit regenda.org.uk
