Talented young Treske apprentices graduate in York

Two talented young wood machinists at Treske of Thirsk, who recently completed their apprenticeships, have attended a special graduation ceremony in York.

Chris Bradshaw and James Fleetham, who both live in Thirsk, were guests of honour at the York Apprenticeship Graduation & Awards Ceremony at the Principal Hotel by York Station.

Justin Bartlett, the owner and managing director of Treske, the award-winning furniture designers and manufacturers, said he was absolutely delighted that his two young employees had successfully completed their apprenticeships.

“Both Chris and James are hard-working and talented young men, who are very much part of the Treske family. I am delighted they have been recognised in this way.

“It is part of Treske’s philosophy to employ young men and women from the Thirsk area and to give them hands-on experience in manufacturing and designing furniture. We strongly value local labour and Chris and James’ successful graduation is a ringing endorsement of this policy.”

Both Chris and James, whose interests include football and contemporary music, said they were extremely satisfied to have completed their apprenticeships.

Chris said: “Treske is a great place to work – and learn. Everyone has been very supportive as we have learned our trade as wood machinists.”

James added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed making our own contribution to a very successful Yorkshire company, which is going from strength. We are privileged to be part of a happy and successful team.”

The awards night was organised by the North Lancs Training Group, who also run a series of apprenticeships on furniture occupations and wood machining.

Treske, who are based at Station Works in Thirsk, design, manufacture and supply bespoke furniture for homes, offices, restaurants and churches.
