Exact Abacus’ Innovative Appointment
Lancashire-based eCommerce, software and fulfilment specialist, Exact Abacus, has appointed Austin Waddecar to the newly-created role of head of innovation.
As head of innovation, Austin’s key focus will be identifying trends in software developments, predicting consumer and market needs through data analysis and finding ways to incorporate technological developments into Exact Abacus’ service.
Having been with Exact Abacus since July 2013, Austin began his career as a web designer before progressing to senior web designer and latterly to head of design.
Austin pitched the head of innovation position to the board as he recognised its importance in order for Exact Abacus to maintain its impressive growth.
He is currently exploring opportunities including chat bots that work with existing chat platforms like Facebook Messenger, where customers can discuss queries or ask about specific product details.
Austin said: “Simple software like chat applications can be put to use outside of the social media industry. By building algorithms that can answer simple FAQs into the chat software, we can replicate an online customer service interaction whilst our valuable customer service team can deal with more complex queries.
“As well as looking at the needs of the business in the future, I also have to assess the way we operate and how we can streamline everyday tasks so that Exact Abacus can perform at an optimum level. We want to adopt a pioneering attitude within the business by encouraging staff across all departments to assess their own roles, and to not be afraid to pitch ideas forward.”
Managing director at Exact Abacus, Lee Gregson, said: “Austin has an impressive track record here, with an incredible insight into the ever changing world of technology. He has already brought forward some amazing ideas which have the potential to keep Exact Abacus ahead of the curve.”
“We are really looking forward to seeing some of the innovative plans that Austin has put in place to help us continue proving a great service.”
