New investment boosts big growth plans for North East independent brewery

Anarchy Brew Company Limited has revealed plans to scale its business further after securing funding from Barclays.

The support has allowed Anarchy, launched by local entrepreneurs Simon and Dawn Miles in 2012, to invest in new equipment to expand its production capabilities.

With an increased output capacity, the employer of nine staff locally expects its turnover to rise by 40% this year.

Headquartered at Whitehouse Farm Centre, Stannington, the Morpeth brewery has quickly risen as a favourite in the North East’s independent brewing scene.

Winning a succession of awards, most notably for its flagship stout Sublime Chaos, Simon and Dawn say they hope to continue developing craft beers which are both new and exciting.

Simon Miles, Director, Anarchy Brew Company Limited, said: “We need to continue with our investment programme to meet the increasing demand for our beers and to ensure that product quality remains the key focus of our business.

“We’ve invested in eight new vessels together with a production line which will increase capacity and production. Barclays has provided a term loan which will provide the flexibility for us to continue on our growth journey.”

Jane Brown, Barclays Business Banking Manager, added: “I have been working with Simon and Dawn for some time now to see how we can support their growth and provide the facilities to take them to the next exciting chapter for the business.

“The funding deal will provide them with more flexibility for their expansion plans and I am confident we will see this fast growing and ambitious business going from strength to strength. With craft ales going mainstream, the business is well placed to succeed in this exciting market.”
