Sunderland’s Arktek in merger with UK Flood Barriers
The flood defence side of Sunderland energy saving company Arktek has merged with flood specialist UK Flood Barriers.
Arktek’s Flood Defences team, which launched last year, will now operate under the newly formed ‘UK Flood Barriers Northern’ brand.
Established 10 years ago, UK Flood Barriers is a leading player in specialist flood sector, delivering Property Level Protection measures to more than 7000 UK homes, as well as undertaking major commercial schemes both at home and abroad.
CEO Frank Kelly believes that acquiring Arktek’s flood defence division was a natural fit for the firm in pursuing its strategic vision.
Frank commented: “Whilst the flood sector has clearly developed over the past 10 years, it’s still ridiculously fragmented to the point of often being dysfunctional.
“The end customer is often confused and key sector players do little to the help the situation. I am, and always have been, committed to consolidating this disjointed approach and have developed a long term strategic vision for UK Flood Barriers that will help us realise this objective.
“This recent partnership merger with Arktek is a critical component of our long term vision. As a company with a great pedigree and a growing reputation in the flood sector, they were a natural choice to take on responsibility for UK Flood Barriers Northern working out of their existing Sunderland offices.”
Arktek Group Managing Director, Mark Bewick, added: “Since introducing the flood defence element to our business last year, it soon became clear that this was a potential massive growth area that could shape the Company’s future direction.
“Appreciative of the importance of certified quality standards we had already signed up to the Flood Professionals scheme so when we were approached by Frank about a potential company partnership, it was an obvious positive step as far we were concerned.
“We are looking forward to working closely with Frank & his team to grow the UK Flood Barriers business through its Northern division whilst still adhering to those quality standards on which both of our businesses have been built”.
