School bury time capsule at local retirement development
Children from St Monica’s Primary School visited Adlington’s new Urmston development last week to present their latest history project, which will be included in a time capsule and buried at the site.
The pupils from St Monica’s, aged six and seven, have spent the last few weeks drawing pictures and collecting photographs of the local area, as well as writing about what Urmston is like in 2017. The project acts as a little piece of history to whoever finds it in the future, as pupils from the school were invited to the site of Adlington House, a luxury retirement development on Moorside Road, to add their work to a specially designed time capsule to be buried for future generations to find. Claire Reede, Marketing Manager for Adlington, commented: “It was great to have the children from St Monica’s Primary School visiting our new Urmston development and it’s an exciting prospect knowing that future generations could discover the capsule and gain an insight into both the past and present life in the local area. At Adlington, we’re very keen to work with the communities in which we build, and as Urmston has a wealth of local history we want to encourage our residents and the wider community to contribute to the continuing story of the area.” Louise Davies, Head of School at St. Monica’s Primary, said: “The children felt very privileged to be asked to contribute to the time capsule project with Adlington. They really enjoyed collecting the items, photographs and stories about Urmston over the last the last few weeks and it was a fun and exciting project for them, helping them to learn more about the town and its history.” Adlington’s £11m luxury retirement development on Moorside Road in Urmston will consist of 55 superbly appointed one, two and three bedroom apartments with balconies or patios, along with stylish communal areas, exclusively for the over 60s. The Marketing Suite at Urmston is now open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
