Capital & Regional has submitted plans for its mixed-use redevelopment in Walthamstow

Property developers Capital & Regional have submitted their plans to transform Walthamstow town centre with new housing and new retail units to Waltham Forest Council.

The redevelopment project is centered around The Mall in Walthamstow with plans to expand the retail portion with an additional 86,000 sq ft of space which C&R intend to support 12 new retailers alongside five new food and drink brands.

Plans also include up to 460 new homes for the north east London site with an as yet undetermined development partner, which would sit above the newly redeveloped shopping mall.

The property firm has also signalled its intention to carry out significant redevelopment in the surrounding town square, with play facilities, sensory gardens and flexible events space planned for the two-acre space.

Ken Ford, Executive Director at Capital & Regional, said: “We are excited to unveil our plans for Walthamstow town centre, which is emerging as one of London’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.

“Following the successful refurbishment of The Mall in 2015, we see huge potential to create an integrated destination comprising an enhanced retail and leisure offer and much needed new homes, all set in a remodelled public square adjacent to Walthamstow transport hub.

“We look forward to working with Waltham Forest Council, residents and the town’s existing retailers and business owners to bring these plans forward.”
