Just Eat squares up to on-demand food rivals after snaring US fast food giant

Online food marketplace Just Eat has announced that chicken fans in the capital will now be able to order KFC from its app as it faces up to the challenge of on-demand food rivals UberEATS and Deliveroo.

The partnership, which will initially be rolled out across 30 KFC restaurants in Greater London, will allow customers to order from the US fast food chain’s menu, includings its famous sharing buckets, along with its popcorn chicken and boneless banquets straight to their door.

Outlets in Enfield, Stoke Newington, Edgware and Bromley are among the first to offer deliveries on the platform, with more set to follow in the coming months.

The chain is not the first big-name takeaway name to operate on Just Eat, with some Pizza Hut and Burger King restaurants offering delivery menus in select parts of the UK.

Where previously Just Eat built up its reputation tying together independent takeaways and smaller eateries into one platform, the continued threat of global on-demand businesses such as UberEATS and Deliveroo has meant consumers have become accustomed to the convenience of deliveries from bigger brands too.

Graham Corfield, UK Managing Director at Just Eat said the agreement has come about after the online marketplace reported that chicken-based dishes were one of the top four cuisines on its platform.

Following the launch, he commented: “We’re thrilled to welcome KFC to the Just Eat platform, offering our customers in London an even wider choice of food than ever before.

“We’re adding KFC restaurants every week, meaning more customers will be able to enjoy KFC’s world famous chicken at the click of a button in their area very soon.”
