Aireborough has Uniform appeal after local business support

A party of junior rugby players from Aireborough RUFC in Leeds dropped by to say a collective thank you to a big-hearted local businessman who kitted them out for their first ever tour.

Chris Gaunt, owner of Select Uniforms, answered a public appeal for a sponsor to provide hoodies for the club’s Under 9s and Under 10s two-day trip to Cheshire.

But Chris didn’t stop there.

When personalised hoodies were delivered the night before the tour began, they were accompanied by custom-made polo shirts, tee shirts, caps and kit bags for all 27 players on tour, together with matching clothing for the coaches.

Aireborough Under 10s head coach Matt Barratt said the entire tour party was “hugely indebted” to Chris Gaunt and his staff at Select Uniforms for their kindness.

Matt said: “We simply can’t thank Chris and his team enough. There is a wonderful togetherness at Aireborough which we’re incredibly proud of.

“For the players and coaches to look so smart throughout the trip was excellent for morale and served to enhance memories that will last a lifetime.”

The tour party spent Saturday afternoon at Gulliver’s World theme park in Warrington before staying overnight at Terra Nova School near Jodrell Bank.

After breakfast, it was back on the coach for the journey to Stockport and hard fought games against Heaton Moor RUFC Under 9s and Under 10s.

Aireborough Under 9s head coach Kris Brook praised his club’s players for their first class performances and thanked Chris Gaunt for helping to fill them with pride.

Kris said: “These were our final games of the season and, by common consent, both Aireborough teams saved their best till last.

“There is no doubt in my mind that their focus was greatly assisted by how professional they looked when they arrived at the ground. Our excellent hosts at Heaton Moor were very complimentary about Aireborough’s appearance and I believe this gave our players an edge even before the first whistle.

“This boost was down to Select Uniforms and we will be forever grateful to Chris for his support.”

Select Uniforms have been trading for over 20 years from premises in Stanningley and recently opened an eye-catching showroom on Leeds Road, Rawdon.

Select Uniforms specialise in the supply and management of branded corporate workwear and uniforms for a wide range of businesses, from sole traders to multi-site operations with thousands of staff. Select Uniforms employ many innovative ideas to enable companies to use workwear as an additional source of advertising for their business, in addition to the traditional practical benefits of wearing workwear.

Select Uniforms owner Chris Gaunt said: “Aireborough RUFC plays an important role in community life in Guiseley, Yeadon and Rawdon and we were delighted to be able to help.

“It was quite a sight when the team coach pulled up outside the showroom and so many players and coaches climbed out dressed in Select Uniforms clothing.

“I understand the boys enjoyed their first rugby tour and it was terrific for us to play our part in making the trip something they will look back on happily in the years to come.”
