Edge Testing secures place on CCS Framework
Edge Testing grows remote, on-demand testing for public sector with second UK Digital Test Hub
Secures Place on CCS Quality Assurance and Testing Framework
Edge Testing Solutions, one of the UK’s fastest growing and largest independent software testing companies, has opened a second Digital Test Hub to expand its footprint in the Midlands and offer more public sector organisations access to remote, on-demand testing services.
Edge launched the disruptive Digital Test Hub concept in 2013 in Glasgow, Scotland – the first of its kind in the UK. It was founded to meet requirements for a low cost, on demand test service supplied within the UK. Public sector organisations offshore some testing activity for cost savings, however, due to the sensitive nature of citizens’ information, there is a reluctance to fully offshore testing.
The Digital Test Hub operates as a challenger to the offshore testing model as it can be accessed easily and quickly by public sector organisations looking for a UK-based remote testing service. This is especially key for dynamic projects that are subject to change, as there is no need for long-term contracts and the service can be switched on and off as necessary.
Over the past decade, Edge Testing has played a pivotal role in helping local and national government agencies, councils and public sector organisations to reduce costs, whilst managing risk, implementing process efficiencies and positively improving the quality of services. The software testing firm has built an excellent reputation with an enviable client list across the public sector, and has a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
A sample of Edge Testing’s public sector clients include Student Loans Company, national healthcare provider, Big Lottery Fund, FSCS, Scottish Prison Service and South Ayrshire Council.
Edge’s second Digital Test Hub facility in Birmingham aims to create over 60 new jobs in the area over the next two years, from experienced Test Managers and Test Analysts to Trainee Software Testers. Edge has already been operating out of Birmingham for over four years, and 40% of its business is generated from public sector work.
Edge Testing has now grown to 250 employees, and secured a place on the recently announced CCS Quality Assurance and Testing Framework. Following a rigorous procurement process, Edge Testing can now offer Quality Assurance and Testing for IT Systems to public sector organisations, under the RM3810 framework.
The company is already on the Government’s G-Cloud 8 and Digital Outcomes Specialists 2 frameworks, and has now extended its reach across the UK public sector including central government, local government, health, education, devolved administrations, emergency services, defence and not-for-profit organisations.
Brian Ferrie, CEO, said: “The Digital Test Hub model has proven a huge hit with our customers. The ability to have a low cost, on demand, remote service without the challenges of going offshore has been a real winner. We have listened to our customers who have said that the service would be even better if there was the flexibility for the team to be on-site during critical project stages. We chose Birmingham as our second Hub as it’s easily accessible for our customers across our southern business, is a vibrant tech hub and gives us access to some fantastic local talent at both experienced and graduate levels”.
The Digital Test Hub is cloud based, and is staffed by dedicated service managers. It is available as a standalone service or part of Edge’s Managed Testing Service. Edge offers device and compatibility testing, website monitoring, website performance testing, usability and accessibility testing, functional testing, regression testing and test automation.
