BHP Chartered Accountants announces merger with family-run practise in York
BHP Chartered Accountants, Yorkshire’s largest independent firm of chartered accountants, has announced a merger with York-based Atkinsons Consulting Limited.
Founded in 2000, Atkinsons is headed up by father and son team, Peter and Chris Atkinson, at The Innovation Centre in Heslington.
The company specialises in cloud accounting in the North of England, and has been recognised by software company Xero as a gold partner.
Atkinsons will combine with BHP’s existing cloud based business, Figuresout Limited, to create a new operation that focuses on providing real time financial information to businesses and freeing up their management time.
John Warner, managing partner of BHP, commented: “I have been very impressed by the way in which Peter and Chris Atkinson have used value focussed technology to grow both their own and their clients’ businesses.
“It is an ideal fit for our strategy of providing the full range of financial and accountancy services that growing businesses need, and will further cement our position as the business advisory firm of choice in the region.”
Peter Atkinson commented: “We have recognised that we need to offer our clients the widest possible range of services so that they can continue to grow and develop.
“By merging with BHP we will be able to provide our cloud accounting solution to a broader range of clients and build on our success of using technology to make a real difference to business owners, whilst continuing to deliver the highest standards of service.”
The merger also increases BHP’s presence in York, with an office move planned from its current base on Micklegate later this year, to create room for continued growth.
BHP now has more than 300 employees across five offices in York, Sheffield, Leeds, Cleckheaton, and Chesterfield.
