122 jobs lost as North East furniture manufacturer goes bust
Furniture manufacturer Fuda International Trading Company Limited has ceased trading, resulting in the loss of 122 jobs in the region.
The long established North East family business, which was based in North Shields, revealed the news after the loss of a major contract had made trading unsustainable to continue.
The company, which had produced furniture for the likes of Next and John Lewis, had enjoyed a successful reputation as committed employer to the region, reshoring manufacturing jobs to the North East in recent years.
However after becoming unable to reach repayment agreements with creditors, directors at the soft furnishing firm reportedly had no other option other than to close doors indefinitely.
April salaries have been paid at the firm whilst North East accountancy business Tait Walkerare dealing with the company’s remaining affairs.
