York Hotel Welcomes Reservation And Events Coordinator To Team
A York hotel has appointed a new reservation and events coordinator as it embarks on a further £3m programme of expansion and improvements.
Dan Edwards has joined the four-star Monkbar Hotel - soon to become the city’s first DoubleTree by Hilton – to the key position, as the establishment increases its number of bedrooms to 140 and adds a fitness suite.
Hotel manager Graham Usher said: “It’s a pleasure to welcome Dan to the team during what has to be one of the most exciting phases in our 27 year history.
“His experience in the customer service industry will be invaluable in the coming months as we undertake this significant transformation.
“In his last position Dan was a meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibition (MICE) executive, and this will assist him greatly when it comes to liaising with conference organisers looking for a York venue to stage their events.”
Dan began his career working as a retail assistant at York’s Betty’s Café Tea Rooms, where he worked for five years, gaining key customer service skills.
His most recent role at Calder Conferences, as well as his time at Hazelwood Castle Hotel, has given him the necessary experience to meet the high expectations expected by Monkbar hotel guests.
Dan said: “I’m delighted to accept this position with the hotel, especially given its fantastic history. This is a new and exciting period for the hotel, which I’m proud to be a part of.”
Dan graduated from the University of Exeter in 2014 with a First in Archaeology.
He has also completed various volunteer roles including roles in exhibitions.
