ELG flies flag for Yorkshire in planning award
England Lyle Good Town Planning (ELG Planning) has been shortlisted for a prestigious, national planning award.
Against stiff competition from international practices, ELG Planning has been named as a finalist for Planning Consultancy of the Year in the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2017.
The firm, which employs 14 people and has offices in Sheffield, Darlington and Preston, offers expert planning support to public and private sector clients across Yorkshire and the UK.
It has played an integral role in heritage urban regeneration schemes such as the Tower Works in the Victorian manufacturing heart of Leeds and the successful redevelopment of the former Terry’s Chocolate Factory in York.
The RTPI Awards are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry, celebrating outstanding contributions to planning which make a positive impact for the community and environment.
ELG Planning director David Boulton said: “We are immensely proud to be a finalist for this prestigious national award. ELG Planning is the smallest consultancy to be shortlisted, reflecting the fact that we consistently ‘punch above our weight’ in terms of the range and quality of the work we do throughout the UK.
“Being shortlisted as planning consultancy of the year means that we can count ourselves in the top four of planning consultancies nationwide – a real achievement for a practice of our size.”
Savills UK, WYG and Indigo Planning are the other contenders for the award.
ELG won the RTPI North East Planning Excellence Award for its work on the Wynyard Walled Garden & Visitor Centre scheme near Durham for Cameron Hall Developments Ltd in 2016
Established 22 years ago, ELG has secured planning permission for thousands of new homes, more than 30 new schools and hospitals and over one million sq ft of office and retail floor space. The firm advises on a wide spectrum of private and commercial schemes ranging from quarries, solar farms, log cabins and hotels to sheltered and student housing, offices, power stations, supermarkets and waste operations.
The RTPI Awards take place in London on 15 June 2017 at a ceremony hosted by Wayne Hemingway MBE, co-founder of fashion label Red or Dead and HemingwayDesign.
