Scaleup pioneer Sherry Coutu will give the first address at ‘Together We Can Take On The World’ in Newcastle today, the biggest event of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum’s yearly calendar.
The conference, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, will also feature speakers such as Simon Woodroffe, YO! Sushi founder and former BBC Dragons’ Den investor, and Olympic swimmer Karen Pickering MBE.
Coutu, who is a non-executive director of the London Stock Exchange and property company Zoopla, as well as being an angel investor, authored the ScaleUp Report which was the catalyst for the private sector to create the Scaleup Institute, that she Chairs.
Institute Board member Thomas Hoegh, well known for cofounding LoveFiLM, will also take the stage, addressing an audience expected to be in excess of 300 people.
In addition to taking part in the full conference, the Institute is co-hosting a roundtable alongside the North East LEP, with scaleup businesses from the local area and broader partners from across the scaleup ecosystem.
Gillian Marshall, chief executive of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “Attracting the ScaleUp Institute to Newcastle demonstrates the importance of the North East to the economy and the growth ambitions of the region’s companies.
“Members of the Institute’s Board members will see first-hand at our conference the diverse range of entrepreneurial businesses operating out of the region that are part of the North East’s sustainable economic future, and also have the opportunity to share their valuable experience with our members.”
