Morpeth interior designer leads Lloyd Newcastle MINI roadtrip

Innovative interior designer Kerry Lockwood was chosen to lead a MINI tour of the North East, as part of a national road trip, supported by Lloyd Newcastle MINI.

Kerry, who lives in Morpeth and is married to Heart FM presenter Justin Lockwood, was selected as a local influencer to lead the North East leg of MINI’s national tour, which is heading across the country to “spread the spirit of MINI”

Accompanied by eccentric beatboxers DUKE in MINI’s version of car pool karaoke, Kerry took MINI around some of her favourite spots in the region.

Lloyd Newcastle MINI brand manager Chris Longster said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the MINI tour to the North East. It’s a fantastic way not just to show off the MINI range, but also to show off our region to MINI. Kerry was the perfect person to lead a MINI tour, given the strong emphasis on iconic design which the MINI brand brings.“

Kerry was approached by MINI who were looking to work with local pioneers who could give an insider’s guide to their city or region.

She said: “They were looking for someone doing things a bit differently, who embraces life and works to their passions.“

Kerry, 37, who lives in Morpeth, along with her husband, their two children Alfie and Jersey, and their dog Chester took MINI to three locations across the region.

“I chose Riley’s Fish Shack because that’s somewhere we love to go for lunch as a family and finish off with a walk along the beach. We went to Lane 7 because I love the decor in here and you can spend all day having fun with family or friends. I can highly recommend the milkshakes! Our final stop was the Fern Avenue Antiques Centre in Jesmond. I’m a total magpie when it comes to antique shops and love searching out old treasures for the home. I love mixing old with new to create an eclectic look.“

Kerry launched her interior styling company, Kerry Lockwood In Detail, a year ago after being inspired when her home was featured in a national homes magazine.

She said: “I’m obsessed with home décor, mainly dark, moody hues. No corner is left untouched. For me, it’s all about the detail. I try to create spaces that feel cosy, cool and lived in while adding touches that normally get overlooked to create a home you will never want to leave. My style is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and pushing boundaries to take your space to the next level.“

MINI is exploring as much of the UK as possible, from coast to city and the countryside in between. Product geniuses are on hand to answer questions as well as to offer on-tour test drives.
