Work begins on brand new residential development in Kirkstall
Work has commenced on a residential project comprising 36 modern apartments on Commercial Road in Kirkstall, Leeds.
The development, called Kirkstall Gate, has been designed by Brewster Bye Architects for Gold & Amber Properties, the company behind the North Crescent development which saw 46 new two bedroom apartments delivered in Leeds City Centre.
Chris Austin, managing director at Brewster Bye Architects, said: “This project provided the opportunity to convert a tired and neglected 1960’s former halls of residence into 36 stylish apartments.
“The existing building occupies a key gateway site in a prominent elevated position above one of Leeds’ key arterial routes into the city centre. The contemporary façade design will breathe new life into the building and surrounding area with projecting cladding and flashes of colour in the window reveals, giving the building an exciting new appearance.
“The whole development is set within carefully landscaped grounds, and benefits from 25 car parking spaces. It will sit neatly within the existing streetscape whilst also contributing to the diversity of the buildings on Commercial Road.”
Located in the centre of Kirkstall, the project is due for completion by this summer.
PJ Finn from Gold & Amber Properties added: “We have been very happy with the design of Kirkstall Gate, Brewster Bye has a proven track record when it comes to the architecture of residential property, and the creative flare alongside the attention to detail of the practicalities of the build is outstanding.
“We are confident that these smart new homes will appeal to people wanting to take advantage of the sought-after location of Kirkstall.
“With plenty of amenities and a fantastic community, Kirkstall Gate is right at the heart of everything the popular suburb has to offer, including award winning cafes and restaurants, plenty of shops and established retail parks, a cinema, lots of health and fitness facilities and the recently opened railway station all on its doorstep.
“The apartments are just a 10 minute drive from the City Centre, with regular bus and rail services, and they will be ideal for both owner occupiers and investors looking for a sound return. We are confident the development will prove just as popular as our North Crescent development, which was a huge success with people looking for a high quality, well designed home.”
