Housebuilder swings by to support young golfers

Bristol housebuilder David Wilson Homes took time out from working on its latest development this week to meet with the city’s rising new stars of golf.

The company, which is working on its Park Farm development in Thornbury, sponsored this year’s Thornbury Junior Golf Open Jeff Hall Qualifier and staff from the company headed to Thornbury Golf Club to congratulate some of those who took part.

The Thornbury Junior Golf Open Jeff Hall Qualifier is open to juniors under the age of 18 who have a recognised golf handicap and this year saw close to 100 youngsters take part. The winner was 16-year-old Max Holford from Cotswold Hills Golf Club, with a handicap of six.

Jurgen Bowering, from David Wilson Homes’ Park Farm development, which sits two miles from Thornbury Golf Club said: “We’re proud to count such a fantastic sports facility as our neighbour. Supporting the communities we work in is important to us and it’s a pleasure to be able to support Thornbury Golf Club through our sponsorship of this event.”

Paul Harvey, chairman Thornbury golf club, Junior Section, said: “Golf is such a great sport and as a club we’re working hard to encourage local youngsters to take it up. Our junior section currently has more than 60 members and we’re very grateful to David Wilson Homes for its support, which will help us grow that even further.”

Thornbury Golf Club has one of the largest junior sections in the county. To find out more visit www.thornburygolfclub.com and to find out more about homes at Park Farm visit www.dwh.co.uk
