Kent Schools Jump at Trampolining Sessions
Every school in Medway is being invited to take part in a free trampolining session at Flip Out in Chatham as part of a new initiative to encourage grassroots participation in the Olympic sport.
The trampoline park has teamed up with Greenacre Sports Partnership to organise a series of sessions, run by qualified coaches, for schools across the borough.
Hundreds of pupils from 12 local schools have already experienced free trampolining sessions at Flip Out and the next one is set to take place later this month.
During the sessions, pupils can enjoy an introduction to trampolining. There will also be advice available for teachers on how to access funding to incorporate trampolining into PE lessons and guidance on using Flip Out as a venue for after school clubs.
Director of Flip Out Chatham, Mark McGill, is keen to offer every school in Medway an opportunity to attend a free taster session at the trampoline park.
He said: “We plan to hold regular taster sessions to give all pupils across Medway a chance to experience the fun of trampolining. Making exercise enjoyable is a great way to encourage young people to keep fit and healthy for life.”
Vikki Bell of Greenacre Sports Partnership, said: “I would like to see pupils being offered access to a wider range of sports through schools, whether that is through PE lessons or after school clubs.
“Flip Out has excellent facilities for hosting off site PE lessons. These sessions offer a perfect introduction to trampolining for young people and they also provide a great opportunity for teachers to gain advice on how to access the national funding that is available.”
Flip Out Chatham, which was opened just six months ago by Sports Minister and Kent MP Tracey Crouch, features 70 interlinked trampolines. There is also a 7m tumble track, a foam pit, a free running area, a zone for the under 5s and a relaxing cafe, which overlooks Chatham Maritime Marina.
