Breaking: JD Sports secures CMA approval for multi-million pound acquisition
JD Sports Fashion Plc’s multi-million pound acquisition of Go Outdoors has this morning (May 18) been approved by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The £112.3m deal was first announced in November last year.
Go Outdoors, a retailer catering for outdoor enthusiasts, operates 58 stores nationwide from its head office in Sheffield.
For the 53 weeks to January 31 last year, the firm reported pre-tax profits of £4.9m with revenues of £202.2m.
Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of Bury-headquartered JD Sports Fashion, said of the decision: “I am pleased with the outcome of the CMA’s investigation and delighted to welcome Go Outdoors to the JD Group.
“Go Outdoors will make an excellent addition to the existing JD Outdoor business and I am confident that it will build upon Blacks’, Millets’ and Tiso’s recent success on the high street and strengthen our consumer proposition within the outdoor sector.”
