Coastal Camping in the UK
Camping is a fun way to relax and disconnect from the hectic world that we live in. Sleeping under the stars can be a great way to unwind, Plus, cooking all of your meals on an open fire, better yet, on your stove.
And, just enjoying the opportunity to spend time with the people who matter most to you while having a chance to become one with nature. What better place to go camping that the south western coast of the UK. Never been camping or hiking? Don’t let that stop you, here is a beginners guide to camping and guide to backpacking.
Ayr Holiday Park
If your definition of camping includes surf and sand, Ayr Holiday Park in St. Ives is the place for you. Not far from Porthmeor Beach, you can easily spend the morning on the beach catching some waves and come back to your camp site to cook lunch on your camping stove and enjoy a quick snooze in your camping hammock before heading back to the beach to soak up some more sun and catch the afternoon waves.
Even if surfing isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy walking on the beach, swimming and there is also a play area for the kids and a game room if the weather isn’t suitable for going to the beach. There are even showers and free hot water to wash off after a fun day at the beach.
Treen Family Farm Campsite
If you are looking for a good central location with plenty of places to visit, Treen Farm Campsite in Penzance is a good place to start. Whitesands Bay, Land’s End, and Pedn Vounder are just three of the well-known beaches and surf spots near the Treen Farm Campsite.
There are even great things to do on rainy days like visiting a museum or theater and when you just need something different to do, you can visit the open-air theater that was actually cut into the rocks.
The location of this campsite is great because it is in a field with a cliff that tends to protect it from the more common rain of the UK. It is important to note that you cannot make a reservation at this campsite, so it’s best to be prepared for that.
Bryher Campsite
Bryher Campsite in Isles of Scilly, is another great option with natural landscape that provides some protection from the weather because of its location between two hills. It has a beautiful view of Hangman Island, easy access to Green Bay and a great spot for swimming at Rushy Bay.
On a nice warm sunny day, you will feel like you left the UK and teleported to a peaceful and breathtakingly stunning tropical island. With laundry and washroom facilities are your disposal, you could stay here forever.
Whether you prefer sleeping under the stars in your hammock or sleeping bag, in a tent or even something a little less outdoorsy, UK Coastal camping can be the perfect holiday escape for you and your family and friends. Grilling on an open fire or on your stove and sitting around the camp fire with the people you love is just what the doctor orders to relieve the stresses of daily life.
