Expanded Newcastle HQ to ‘play key role’ in tech firm hedgehog lab’s global plans
Post-PC technology consultancy hedgehog lab has completed an expansion of its headquarters in Newcastle city centre, giving the firm sufficient space to facilitate the next step in its growth journey.
The business, which also boasts offices in London, Boston, Austin, Denmark and Hyderabad, India, has leased space extending to circa 7,500 sq ft for its Newcastle employees having outgrown the initial 1,700 sq ft of space acquired in 2012, based at Generator Studios.
The move follows a period of rapid growth for the app designers and developers which today employs 120 people and grew revenues by 160% last year,.
hedgehog lab CEO Sarat Pediredla said: “After last year’s incredible growth, we are on track to double revenues in 2017 - and will continue to expand our talented team.
“Although we maintain a distinctly internationalist outlook, and have recently opened an office in Denmark that will serve as our European headquarters, we are proud to call the North East our home.
“Our offices at Generator Studios have served us well and we are sure the new space will benefit us greatly as we continue to work with global brands and push the boundaries of emerging technologies such as Virtual Reality.
“We have some truly exciting projects lined up for the rest of this year. The Newcastle headquarters will play a key role in allowing us to bring the best to our clients.”
Generator Studios, a 42,400 sq ft scheme owned by Metnor Property Group Ltd on Trafalgar Street, Newcastle, provides workspace to SMEs and stands as a hub for many of the city’s digitally-led businesses.
Business telecoms provider Fuse Telecom has also taken further space at Generator Studios, doubling its floorplate to help facilitate the launch of its new wing Fuse Connect.
Jamie Mableson, investment director at Metnor Property Group, added: “We are delighted that both hedgehog lab and Fuse Telecom have decided to expand their presence within Generator Studios.
“The building has won several awards for its contemporary design and innovative working spaces and continues to be popular with a range of businesses.”
