Local Business Owner's Roof Jump
Birds in the skies around Keswick had a new companion recently when a local business owner took to roof jumping.
Sally Fielding, the owner of holiday cottage letting agency Sally’s Cottages, recently scaled one of the company’s properties for a daring rooftop photo shoot. Dressed in a signature red dress, the photos show Sally enjoying a cup of tea, relaxing in the sun, and leaping for joy.
“We are always looking for new ways to celebrate the beauty of the Lake District,” comments Sally, who set up her company 13 years ago with just 1 holiday cottage and £1,000 in the bank. “We shot these photos at Wallthwaite Farmhouse, which has stunning views of Blencathra and the surrounding fells. It’s a real taste of the beauty you are surrounded by when enjoying a comfy break in the Lakes.”
This isn’t the first time that Blencathra – the recent star of the BBC’s popular documentary ‘Life of a Mountain’ - has featured prominently in a project by Sally’s Cottages. In 2014, a small team, including Sally and her husband, Rob Fielding, carried a desk to the top of the much-loved fell to create an ‘office in the clouds’.
The company has gained local and national recognition for their eye-catching photos. A photo shoot of a floating bedroom – which depicted Sally relaxing on Derwentwater on a bed complete with throws, pillows, bedside tables, and a table lamp – will be featured at the London Business Show later in 2017. International company Vistaprint will present the project to demonstrate to other small businesses that interesting and outstanding results can be achieved on a small budget.
Sally’s joyful roof jump is indicative of the company’s year so far. With a record number of bookings and 25 new cottages so far in 2017, the company is set for a bumper year. “People are more aware than ever of the beautiful country we live in,” explains Sally, “and we have seen an increase in ‘staycations’ from those who want to explore the nicest parts of the UK. The Lake District is one of the best and we hope our love for this region is expressed in our photos.”
