Hyde entrepreneur targets music industry with haulage startup Event Transport

An entrepreneur from Hyde has launched a new haulage business for the music and live events industry.

David Barnes established Event Transport Ltd with the help of a loan from funding provider Business Finance Solutions (BFS).

With over 17 years’ experience in the event logistics industry, David has previously worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga and Metallica.

He has also assisted international brands such as BMW, Mclaren F1 and Coca Cola.

Event Transport will specialise in moving technical equipment for bands and corporate clients, both in the UK and overseas.

The startup loan provided by BFS will be used to acquire 12- and 18-tonne vehicles, enabling the company to operate more efficiently by not having to rent wagons on each job.

Further, the loan will allow Event Transport to work more with other local firms, including Ardwick-based STS Touring Productions and Altrincham-based corporate event company Keyteq Presentation Services Ltd.

David Barnes said: “What the startup loan has given us is the opportunity to take what is already a proven business model and take it up a level to allow us to create new services, to buy in the equipment and crew we need and to start to build our national and global logistics network.

“Thanks to [BFS] we are now able to operate far more competitively and to start to put Event Transport and Greater Manchester on the map for our event logistics expertise.”
