Professional Export body honours Chamber International director, Tim Bailey

A prestigious accolade in recognition of services to export has been made to the director of Chamber International, Tim Bailey.

After leading Chamber International for more than 15 years, and taking it from being a local export documentation office to an organisation that offers a sophisticated range of specialist international trade support services, Tim Bailey has been made a Fellow of The Institute of Export & International Trade.

The Institute of Export & International Trade director general, Lesley Batchelor, announced the award at a celebratory graduation event attended by 200 invited guests including president of The Institute of Export & International Trade, Lord Stephen Green of Hurstpierpoint; vice president of The Institute of Export & International Trade, Lord Reg Empey; The Rt.Hon. Mayor of London, Alderman, Dr Andrew Parmley and chairman of The Institute of Export & International Trade, Ian Taylor.

Tim Bailey’s appointment is one of only two fellowships announced by The Institute of Export & International Trade this year.

Lesley Batchelor said: “We are delighted to welcome Tim as a fellow of the Institute for being a tireless supporter and enthusiast of exporting, helping thousands of businesses across the country to grow and develop their exports from his base in Bradford.”

The Institute of Export & International Trade, Peterborough, which was founded in 1935, is a professional body supporting and representing professionals involved in international trade. As well as offering practical support, the institute provides training courses and its own international trade qualifications.

Fellowship of the institute, which is by invitation only, recognises outstanding achievement and commitment to the profession. Fellowship, which has to be supported by six full members of the institute and approved following a vote by the Board of Trustees, is also conferred on members who have, in the furtherance of the UK’s export performance, demonstrated outstanding achievement, or have reached a position of eminence in their international business career.

Tim Bailey said: “The Institute plays a hugely important role in setting and maintaining educational standards for professionals working in the export industry and is respected throughout the world. It is a real compliment to be recognised by them in this way.”
