Brexit Minister talks trade and tariffs in North East visit

Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union David Davis paid a visit to the North East this week, two days before the General Election, to discuss manufacturing opportunities for a post-Brexit Britain.

Alongside Sedgefield Conservative MP Dehenna Davison, the Brexit Minister visited international shower designer and manufacturer Roman, based in Newton Aycliffe, amongst other North East companies.

Touring Roman’s manufacturing plant, the pair spoke with employees about their roles at the firm and their views on the upcoming election.

Roman has supplied products for projects in over 50 markets across the world from County Durham and was recently highlighted by the FT as one of the 1000 fastest growing companies in Europe.

David Osborne, Managing Director of Roman, commented: “It is great to discuss the issues around International trade and existing tariffs around the World with the Secretary of State leading the Brexit negotiations and a great honour to welcome to our headquarters.”
