North East firms begin work on luxury Tyne Valley residential scheme
Work to build a development of ten new luxury homes is underway in the village of Great Whittington in the Tyne Valley.
The Briar Fields residential scheme, undertaken by Northumberland-based Anvil Homes, will comprise of four bedroomed detached homes, the first of which will be completed in October of this year.
Established since 1993, the family-run firm specialises in bespoke rural residential developments and is responsible for schemes which include the redevelopment of Slaley Village and Orchard Gap in Hexham.
The firm uses the same pool of local sub-contractors and tradesmen for all of its developments and says the Briar Fields scheme will support 20 jobs during its 18 month construction.
Great Whittington lies seven miles North East of Hexham and the developer believes the site’s accessibility to the market town will make it a popular choice for families.
Alistair Carr, director at Anvil Homes said: “For this development we have designed ten very outwardly traditional Northumbrian homes, which are all double fronted and stone built with timber sash windows to blend sympathetically with the rural surroundings.
“Internally the properties will offer the highest levels of contemporary living, each one enjoying a unique character of its own. The specification includes bespoke kitchens, internal oak doors and under floor heating throughout the ground floors.”
Planning permission was granted by Northumberland County Council last summer for the Briar Fields development on land at Hill House Close on the north western side of Great Whittington village.
The firm has appointed Youngs RPS as selling agents on the scheme.
Kim Harrison, sales manager at Youngs RPS’ Hexham office said: “We are anticipating a high level of interest in Briar Fields due to the strength of its location and the quality of the build.
“Anvil Homes’ last development sold off plan and it would be fantastic if we could achieve similar results for them with this scheme.
“Great Whittington is a beautiful Northumberland village with excellent access to leisure amenities in Corbridge, Matfen and Hexham as well as a number of train stations and good schools in close proximity.”
