Former Finchley police station to be converted into apartments following £6.2m acquisition

A former Metropolitan Police Station in Finchley is to be converted into residential units after Aitch Group acquired the building for £6.2m.

The development will see the construction of 53 apartments on the 0.47 acre scheme and further cements the developer’s presence in North London, having also begun construction of its Eagle Wharf Road scheme in Islington.

Sitting opposite Victoria Park in Finchley, the new development will sit within walking distance of both West Finchley and Finchley Central train station, as well as local businesses on Ballards Lane. Savills represented the seller in the deal.

Aitch’s Group Marketing Director, Jamie Lester, commented: “We are delighted to extend our operations in the North of London, which we identified as an area with significant potential some time ago.

“We have been waiting for the next opportunity to expand in this part of the capital and our vision is to create a 53 apartments that will provide much needed homes in an increasingly exciting part of the London.”

The deal and subsequent development caps a busy six months for Aitch, which has progressed with a number of new schemes across London.

Its 83-unit scheme at Childers Street in Deptford is now underway in what is the first development of its PRS arm, Vive Living, while the group also has six development projects planned in the Hackney Wick and Fish Island regeneration area.
