Hermes gets the go-ahead for £18m aerospace centre refurb

Hermes Investment Management has announced it has received planning approval a multi million pound refurbishment effort at Farnborough Aerospace Centre.

The London-headquartered investment firm, which currently manages around £30.8bn, will embark on a £18m refurb at the Ascent Buildings at the centre, the new name for the former Warwick, York, Zurich and Infor House buildings which have undergone a rebrand.

Hermes have contracted Skansen to carry out the job which will result in a total of 240,000 sq ft of space once it is completed by Autumn 2017, with the construction firm set to begin work on the Ascent 4 building in the coming weeks.

Designs for the newly refurbished buildings have been overseen by Hale Architecture and will see three of the buildings refitted with new facilities, new glazing and amenities, along with a marquee glass atrium at Ascent 1.

“The high-quality redevelopment plans are set to create a modern day working environment, which complements the corporate headquarters of international brands such as BAE Systems and Zurich.

“As sustainability is also an important part of the renovation, we are proud to be working towards being certified ‘Very Good/Excellent’ by BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method).”

Hermes Investment Management has appointed Canmoor in an advisory role throughout the refurbishment and lettings process.
