Invest Newcastle plots 'strong presence' for city at MIPIM 2018
Plans to promote Newcastle and attract investment and jobs at the world’s biggest international property show next year are already under way after the NewcastleGateshead Initiative launched its Invest Newcastle plans for MIPIM 2018.
The event on Thursday 15 June attracted over 100 people as the city, local government and its private sector partners began their preparations for the world’s leading property trade show in Cannes, which is taking place on 13 to 16 March 2018.
It comes after a successful showing this year, which was the second year Newcastle had a presence at the show, saw Invest Newcastle host a GVA-sponsored Investor Dinner as well as double its stand space and significantly increase its number of partners.
The scheme has already signed up a raft of local and national firms who will be attending the 2018 iteration of MIPIM as part of Newcastle’s delegation including:
BIM Academy Client Confident Cundall Gavin Black & Partners GVA Hanro Highbridge Properties Meldrum Naylors NE1 Port of Tyne Quorum Ryder Science Central Space Group UK Land Estates
Catherine Walker, who is Inward Investment Director at Invest Newcastle, promised that next year’s showing would continue to build on the city’s burgeoning presence at the show, and said it was crucial for Newcastle to continue to rub shoulders with other European cities.
She commented: “It is important that we continue to have a strong presence at MIPIM in order to secure new investment - supporting the growth of the city and allowing us to meet the demand from our high growth business sectors.
“The support we receive from both the public and private sector, demonstrates a combined ambition to boost the profile of the region and enables us to position Newcastle as a leading European city on a global stage.
“We have ambitious plans for MIPIM 2018 and will continue to build upon our success, demonstrating Newcastle is a city of opportunity and open for business.”
Echoing her comments, Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council, added: “MIPIM is a global stage and it’s really important that Newcastle has a strong presence alongside all the other major UK cities.
“It’s an unmissable opportunity to showcase our excellent public-private sector partnerships and to shine a light on the fantastic investment opportunities this great city has to offer.”
