Barratt site managers in South Wales named among best in the country
Barratt Developments, which has its regional headquarters in Cardiff, is celebrating after three of its site managers achieved success in a top national competition to find the best in the country.
Site managers working at developments in Barry, Penarth and Monmouth have won prestigious Pride in the Job awards from the National House Building Council (NHBC). The awards recognise the best run sites in the country and are the highest industry accolade a site manager can achieve.
The winners are John Popple who is working at the Barry Waterfront development and also won last year, Paul Oakley at Manor Park in Penarth and Chris Davies who is overseeing work at King’s Wood Gate in Monmouth
This year in total Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes has won 73 awards, which is more than any other housebuilder. This is now the 13th year in a row where Barratt has won more Pride in the Job awards than every other housebuilder, making it the clear industry leader in site management.
Each of the site managers are judged on their site safety, technical skill, workmanship and customer service, plus they also faced a site spot check from the NHBC.
With more than 16,000 site managers being assessed and only around 450 winning a quality award each year, they are a coveted sign of excellence within the industry.
These awards closely follow Barratt Developments being named as the UK’s most recommended housebuilder after it received five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. Barratt is the only housebuilder to be ranked as five star by the HBF for the last eight years in a row.
Barratt South Wales managing director Steve Williams said: “We are delighted with these Pride of the Job Quality awards which demonstrate the high standards that we demand as a company. More importantly though, the awards showcase excellence in housebuilding. Homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job winning home benefit from knowing they have bought a top quality product.”
Commenting on the awards, Neil Jefferson, NHBC managing director said: “Congratulations to all the 2017 Quality Award winners - the strength of this year’s entries coupled with the judges’ long and hard deliberations over selecting around 450 winners from more than 16,000 site managers should give great pride to them all and their teams.
“Every year, the NHBC Pride in the Job Awards give us the chance to celebrate the efforts site managers go to promoting continuous improvement in the quality of new homes, year on year, for homeowners and their families to enjoy.”
