Blooming brilliant donation for Wells school
Visitors to St Cuthbert’s Infants School in Wells are set to be greeted by colourful scenes this summer thanks to local housebuilder David Wilson Homes.
Staff from the company took time out from working on their new Bishops Green development nearby to donate plants and gardening equipment to the school as part of their mission to support local groups.
Among the plants David Wilson Homes donated were lavender and loganberry, which will help to add colour to the school’s garden over the summer months. The housebuilder purchased the plants and equipment from Brownes, which also contributed to the appeal. Other local businesses to lend their support included Durstons, Mendip Trees and Landscapes and Dobbies. The community turned out in force to help, with everyone from infants to grandparents immersed in planting.
Assistant site manager Chris Hickey said: “It’s our absolute pleasure to be able to lend a hand at St Cuthbert’s Infants School. As a housebuilder, we know first-hand what a positive impact landscaping can have on a place and we know pupils are going to love their new-look garden as it takes shape.”
Head teacher Naomi Philip added: “We’re so grateful to David Wilson Homes for the kind donation of plants and planters for the school. Creating a welcoming environment for children to learn in is important to us and the children will have great fun watching the different plants sprout up over the summer.”
David Wilson Homes runs a number of community projects to help people and places near to the communities it builds. It runs everything from safety talks to local schools to erecting hedgehog homes for local wildlife.
