Conference puts the spotlight on cyber safety for businesses

Keeping data and information systems safe in cyber space as well as understanding the importance of the new regulations in relation to data protection will be the focus of Manchester based Data Shepherd Ltd’s Annual Conference which will take place at UKFast Campus, Birley Fields, Manchester on Thursday June 29th.

While the digital age has brought many advantages to individuals and businesses, it has also increased risk as attacks to data and information systems become more sophisticated and persistent. The hacking of global health services, including a large number of NHS Trusts in England recently, placed a major spotlight on the importance of keeping safe in cyber space.

The aim of Data Shepherd’s annual conference will be to help businesses understand how they can best protect their information systems using cost effective, tailored solutions that can be installed quickly and are easy to use.

Data Shepherd’s General Manager John Rollinson, said: “Our keynote speakers have worked extensively in the International Intelligence field. They bring a unique insight into how hackers think and operate. Their advice and insight will be invaluable to large, small and medium sized businesses.”

Keynote speakers include:

• Jacob (Kobi) Cohen, Data Shepherd Business Development Director. o Kobi has more than 25 years experience of working in IT services. Kobi is an entrepreneur and investor in a number of companies providing information security, IT services and cloud solutions in the Middle East and Europe

• John Rollinson, Data Shepherd, General Manager. o John has more than 20 years experience in IT sales and operations. John has a proven track record in working with IT providers including Digica, Capita and Atos Origin and has overseen the expansion of Data Shepherd in the UK.

• Itay Sagie, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for Cronus Cyber Technologies. o Cronus is the first company to offer automated penetration test software. Itay is a board member and advisor for several private and public sector organisations.

• Tzury Bar Yochay, CTO and co-founder of Reblaze. o Tzury has more than 17 years of experience in the software industry. Prior to founding Reblaze he also founded Regulus Labs, a network software company.

As well as outlining the products and services that can better protect businesses, Data Shepherd’s General Manager, John Rollison will also outline what businesses need to do in order to prepare for the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) that will come into force in May 2018.

John explained: “These regulations are a positive step in protecting people and companies from breaches in security but many businesses don’t fully realise the impact they will have and what their responsibilities will be.

“It is not simply an issue that can be passed to company IT managers, it is much more about proactively protecting businesses and data systems which Chief Executive Officers, Legal and Financial teams must take seriously.

“Data Shepherd is in a position to support and advise companies on what impact the GDPR will have on businesses and how best to prepare for their introduction.”

Free places are available at the Conference which will take place at UK FAST on June 29th between 1600 and 1900.
